PORTABLE DEWPOINTS METERS

Model SADP Portable Hygrometer

A portable hygrometer for rapid moisture checks or continuous use on flowing gas or air

Easily portable, ready for spot checks or continuous use, this battery powered portable hygrometer indicates both dewpoint temperatures and water vapour to less than one part per million, on the large meter dial. As the reading is specific to water vapour, calibration is accurate for different gases. Accuracy is guaranteed to better than one part in a million of moisture in very dry air or gas.

The key to the SHAW automatic dewpoint meter is the unique desiccant head and sensor assembly which allows the dewpoint sensor to be kept dry between tests, ensuring that the instrument is always available for rapid spot checks of moisture in gases and compressed air. Note the absence of knobs, calibrating, cooling and servicing as required by some other methods and the automatic dry down measuring head which ensures quick response from the sensor.

Certified intrinsically safe for use in hazardous environments to ATEX and IECEx standards. The key to the SADP portable hygrometer is the SHAW moisture sensor which allows a rapid one second response time from dry to wet. The SADP instrument is simple to use, blocking the outlet with a finger for a moment raises the measurement head, allowing a speedy measurement of the sample gas.-

DEWPOINT SENSORS

Dewpoint Sensor Technology. SHAW – the original and the best.

When buying a SHAW dewpoint sensor, you know that you’re buying into over 60 years of proven technical experience. The aluminium oxide dewpoint sensor, used for measuring moisture in air and gases is a great example of why you can always put your trust in us.

Construction of the aluminium oxide sensor is critical to the performance and reliability of systems and yet the construction varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Our methods are tried, tested and trusted and involve layering and treating high quality components in such a way that we can control sensor speed, sensitivity and base capacity. Unlike other manufacturers, we have the capability to manufacture the dewpoint sensor’s base layer with a level of precision that ensures a stable, reliable and drift free dewpoint sensor. Plus our continuous research and development programme has enabled us to manufacture uniform and water vapour specific pores for rapid and predictable response.

The overall measurement range covered by the sensor is –100 °C to +20 °C (-148 °F to +68 °F) dewpoint, which corresponds to 0.001 ppm to 0.2 percent by volume.

● P (Purple): -100 °C to 0 °C (-148 °F to +32 °F) DP, 0 – 6,000 ppm
● S (Silver): -100 °C to -20 °C (-148 °F to -4 °F) DP, 0 – 1,000 ppm
● G (Grey): -80 °C to 0 °C (-112 °F to +32 °F) DP, 0 – 6,000 ppm

SAMPLE SYSTEMS

Sample Systems for Process Air or Gas Analysis

Solutions for the extraction and analysis of gas or air sampling

Shaw Moisture Meters Sample Systems are solutions for extracting and analysing a representative sample of the process air or gas, which is then either vented off to atmosphere or returned back into the process line.

These Sample Systems have been developed through many years of experience in industrial and process applications and all sample systems are constructed using high quality components. Utilising SHAW Dewpoint Sensor technology and ensuring long term reliability in the harshest environments, all SHAW sample systems are suitable for the SHAW range of portable dewpoint meters, inline hygrometers and dewpoint analysers.

The standard range of Sample Systems has been designed to cater for most applications, however, if your particular requirements are not met by any of these shown, our engineers can design a system specifically for your application.-

DEWPOINT TRANSMITTER

SHAW dewpoint transmitters Model SDT and Model SDT-Ex are designed to meet the stringent demands of industrial applications and extreme environmental conditions.

Both dewpoint transmitters, the Model SDT and SDT-Ex utilise the industry standard, ultra high capacitance SHAW moisture sensing technology. Various dewpoint ranges are available covering an overall range from -100 °C to +20 °C dewpoint (-148 °F to +68 °F). The 4 – 20 mA output is configurable in °C dewpoint, °F dewpoint, ppm(v), g/m³ and lb/MMSCF.

Incorporating advanced electronics, power can be derived from 7 – 28 V DC non isolated power source and configured to output a linear, isolated, 4 – 20 mA signal for distances up to 1,000 metres. The mechanics of the Model SDT and SDT-Ex dewpoint transmitters have been designed to cope with extreme environmental conditions.

The Model SDT-Ex is certified intrinsically safe to ATEX standards for use in hazardous areas using a signal isolator. Designed with the operator in mind, for reliable and accurate measurements, the SHAW Model SDT and SDT-Ex are extremely easy to install and operate, requiring little or no maintenance.-

Important Information

The correct operation of a hygrometer and indeed any measuring instrument, can only be verified by periodic calibration against a dependable reference system. New instruments are delivered with a calibration certificate but this alone does not guarantee that they will provide good measurement throughout their operating life.

Incorrect operation, exposure to contaminants and corrosive gases, dewpoint sensor deterioration (ageing) and drift in electronics can all contribute to changes in the instrument accuracy over a period of time. It is therefore vital that dewpoint meters, hygrometers and inline moisture analyzers are recalibrated at regular intervals in order to ensure that the process to which it is applied is measured and controlled correctly.-
